Misunderstood Myths about Weight Loss

Many people assume that they are thinking logically when it comes to losing weight, but in fact they are not. Generally people think the less food they consume, the less weight they will store - sounds logical right? Wrong! Your body is smarter then that. If you eat less food (food = energy), as in 2 meals a day, then your body begins to think that it may run out of energy because you are not constantly giving it any.Hence, it begins to store extra weight or fat in order to use for energy "incase" it runs out of energy. This is done by your metabolism slowing down and burning energy slower. So the truth is actually simple. You must eat 5 (small / medium) meals a day split apart by 2 hours. This way your metabolism starts running faster, resulting in energy being burnt quicker! However keep in mind that you must eat healthy foods with lots of protein and vegies and that your intake of calories is less then what you burn NOTE: To lose one U.S. pound (.454 kg), you must burn 3,500 more calories than you take in as food. Start burning those calories :)

In need of a quick, healthy & easy source of Protein?

We all know how important protein is for our muscle's development. Those bodybuilders aiming to grow their muscles or even those whom simply wish to shape and tone their bodies require a set amout of protein every day within their diets. One effective source is Almonds. A big bunch of almonds is enough protein, energy and good fats to last you for a good 1 or 2 hours before you get time to prepare yourself another meal. Almonds have as much protein, ounce for ounce, as red meat, however without the cholesterol. Here are the main nutrients in one ounce of almonds (a small-size handful): 166 calories 6g of protein 14g of fat -90% unsaturated 4g of fiber (the highest fiber content of any nut or seed) - unblanched 80 milligrams of calcium 1.4 milligrams of zinc 1 milligram of iron 6.7 milligrams of vitamin E some B-vitamins, minerals, and selenium

Grab that bottle of water!

One of the most underestimated aspects of good health and well being is drinking enough water. Most people drink water when they feel thirsty, which more often than not, means our bodies are greatly de-hydrated and are letting us know that we need water now. Should you water your plants when they wither and look thirsty? Two thirds of our body weight is made of water, and the average human needs about 2 litres of water per day, more if exercising or in hot weather. Drinking water, no not soft drinks, alcohol or coffee, helps not only clean our internal systems, but keep us feeling young and energetic. So if you haven't got that bottle of water on your desk as you're reading this, I suggest now is a good time to start.

Behold the power of BREATH

When searching for a more healthy and energetic body, you must not only turn to the foods that you eat. You must ensure that your cells that make up your body are healthy, as they are the foundation of a healthy body. What determines what makes your cells healthy you ask? The answer to that is the environment in which the cells live in, which is your bloodstream. If this environment is properly maintained, then you're going to have health. On the other hand, if it isn't maintained and instead is polluted, then the cells in your body will be weakened and so will you as a whole. Now in order for you to sustain your circulatory system so that it remains healthy and non-polluted, you must realize and hence utilize the powerful effect of breath as your control button. Not just normal breathing, but Deep Breathing. The effect of Deep Breathing 'exercises' is that it cleanses your circulatory system, gives oxygen to your cells and also controls the flow of lymph fluid. In a quick summary, Lymph fluid is made up of white blood cells that protect your whole body and cleanse the cells. Lymph fluid literally surrounds every single cell in your body, and when I say cleanses your cells, I mean it takes care of getting rid of toxins and dead cells in your body. Now your breath acts as a pump and activates this lymph system of cleaning. The only way lymph fluid can move around is through Deep Breathing and Muscular Movement - we are focusing on Deep Breathing -. One basic Deep Breathing technique to undertake is to breathe in deeply for 4seconds, hold breath in for 16 seconds, and breathe out slowly for 8 seconds. Just simply do 10 reps of this, 3 sets a day to ensure a healthy and clean circulatory system. Deep breathing is one of the quickest and easiest ways to help your body cleanse itself, as it quickens the cleansing process by 15 times its normal pace. It can be done anywhere and at virtually any time. There are SO many health benefits for this extremely easy and simple task.
